A moment’s walk from where you were, there is a train museum where they allow you climb into the engine working historic steamers, or ride one down the Willamette and back. It’s a dream come true for a train lover.

Oh wow, my son (and my daughter, and I) will love that whenever we're in Portland again. Thanks for the tip!!

Not bad an attempt. And many may like what is done with the diction here. I like it.

Read it. Loved it. Read it. Loved it. Felt the steel. Heard the train. He drives! Yes!

What I find particularly appealing and effective in this poem Mike are the well timed pauses and voice intonations. Thanks once again for the ride! Literally!

Figure and background are inseparable. Like Rachel Kann says in her amazing poem "Cosmic Carrot," "Listen to the white spaces around the black ink of my words."

I really like the visuals and sounds of a rail yard here. Stopped cars lurching and starting, steel wheels squealing.

The power of words! You’ve got your work gloves on, and you’re hitching those word cars together. Mike, the poetry yardman. 🚂

Haha, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the imagery and...soundery?

That ending is awesome! Simple and yet says so much.

Thanks, Daniel! It's funny, sometimes I consider just chopping that line off...but at the same time, I enjoy its ambiguity.

I like the piece very much - the cadence was so good - though trains kind of horrify me.
